In 2024, the retail and grocery landscape continued to transform into an omnichannel ecosystem,
where consumers effortlessly navigate between online and offline shopping. This year’s Ecommerce Trends Report delves into how and why people shop the way they do, offering valuable insights for the brands, retailers, and agencies shaping this space.

The report (n=600) reveals how consumers are adapting to an ever-changing retail environment now defined by inflationary pressures, digital integration, and a growing demand for flexibility and convenience. Trends such as heightened price sensitivity, the rise of digital discovery channels, and the blending of online and in-store experiences emphasize the critical role of omnichannel strategies.
To succeed, retailers and brands must prioritize flexible pricing, reliable product availability, and engaging digital content. Those who invest in these areas are well-positioned to foster consistent engagement across both digital and physical platforms.
Methodology: SmartCommerce conducted a quantitative survey between August 14-15, 2024 with a national sample and collected 600 responses (n=600). Respondents were required to be between the ages of 18-99. The respondents identified as 389 women and 211 men. Fifty-percent of respondents live in suburban areas, while 25% live in rural areas, and 25% live in urban areas. Responses were collected via a polling software that offers non-cash incentives to survey participants.
